Village United Methodist Church was organized on August 29, 1973
under the leadership of Rev. James F. Richardson. Charter
members met in a room at the Calella fire station and acquired the
name "The Firehouse Gang". Planning for construction of the
church began in 1975 and on February 11, 1976, 150 attended the
ground breaking ceremony. The first worship service in the new
facility was held February 6, 1977.
The purpose of Village United Methodist Church
is to make disciples of Jesus Christ by feeding the soul with
spiritual, physical and emotional support.
